UPSC Daily Timetable & Weekly Study Plan

Realistic, tested timetables for freshers (10+ hrs/day) and working aspirants (5 hrs/day). Plus a weekly subject rotation that ensures you never neglect any paper.

A timetable is your contract with yourself. UPSC preparation fails most often not because of wrong strategy, but because of inconsistent execution. A realistic schedule, followed 25 out of 30 days a month, beats an ambitious one you abandon in week 2.

Below are two tested templates — one for full-time aspirants and one for working professionals — plus a weekly subject rotation.

Template 1: Full-Time Aspirant (10-11 hours)

For freshers with no job / dedicated preparation. Includes 4 study blocks, breaks, and 7+ hours of sleep.

10 Rules to Actually Stick to Your Timetable

  1. Plan the night before — write tomorrow's schedule before sleeping
  2. Use the 50-10 rule: 50 min focus + 10 min break
  3. Phone in another room during study blocks (not silent mode)
  4. Track study hours honestly (pomodoro app or simple log)
  5. Weekly review every Sunday — what worked, what didn't
  6. Take one half-day off per week — non-negotiable
  7. Sleep 7 hours. This is not optional — it's when learning consolidates
  8. Exercise 30 min daily (walk counts) — essential for mental stamina
  9. Don't change your timetable every 2 weeks — give it 4 weeks first
  10. If you miss a day, don't quit. Start again tomorrow.
