Why the answer is (a)
• Since P and R are adjacent to Q, the sequence must be P-Q-R or R-Q-P.
• Since T and R are adjacent to S, and R is already next to Q, R's other neighbor must be S, forming the block P-Q-R-S or S-R-Q-P.
• T is adjacent to S, so T must be next to S on the side opposite R, creating the block P-Q-R-S-T or T-S-R-Q-P.
• U and W are adjacent to V, forming the block U-V-W or W-V-U.
• S and W are opposite each other. In an 8-seat circle, opposite seats are 4 positions apart.
• Let's place P at position 1. Clockwise order from P meets R before T. If order is P(1)-Q(2)-R(3)-S(4)-T(5), then S is at 4. W is opposite S, so W is at 8.
• The remaining seats are 6 and 7. The block U-V-W must fit. W is at 8. V must be adjacent to W, so V is at 7 or 1. Seat 1 is P, so V is at 7.
• U is adjacent to V, so U is at 6.
• The full clockwise arrangement is: P(1), Q(2), R(3), S(4), T(5), U(6), V(7), W(8).
• Q is at position 2. Moving clockwise from Q to W (position 8), Q crosses R(3), S(4), T(5), U(6), and V(7). This is a total of 5 persons.
