Why the answer is (b)
• B cannot be in Y, and cannot be in X because A is there, so B is in Z with C.
• "Only E travels with G" means E and G share a car with nobody else. X has A and Z has B and C, so E and G are in Y.
• D and F are left, and X needs A plus two others: X = {A, D, F}, Y = {E, G}, Z = {B, C}.
• I is correct (no one travels alone). III is correct (C is B's only companion). II is not correct: F travels with both A and D. Hence I and III only: (b).
Why the other options are wrong
- (a) I and II only
- II is wrong: F travels with both A and D.
- (c) II and III only
- II is wrong, and I is correct.
- (d) All the three
- II is not correct, so not all three hold.
