Why the answer is (b)

• Statement 2 is correct: Badruddin Tyabji presided over the Madras session of 1887, the first Muslim President of the Congress.

• Statement 1 is wrong: the first woman President was Annie Besant (Calcutta, 1917); Sarojini Naidu, in 1925 at Kanpur, was the first Indian woman President.

• Hence 2 only, option (b).
