There is an order of 19000 quantity of a particular product from a customer. The firm produces 1000 quantity of that product per day out of which 5% are unfit for sale. In how many days will the order be completed ?

Why the answer is (c)

• The firm produces 1000 units per day, but 5% are unfit for sale, meaning only 95% are sellable.

• Calculate the daily sellable output: 1000 * (1 - 0.05) = 950 units per day.

• Divide the total order quantity by the daily sellable output: 19000 / 950.

• The calculation yields exactly 20 days.

• Therefore, the order will be completed in 20 days, which corresponds to option (c).

Why the other options are wrong

(a) 18
18 days would only produce 17,100 sellable units (18 * 950), which is less than the required 19,000.
(b) 19
19 days would only produce 18,050 sellable units (19 * 950), which is less than the required 19,000.
(d) 22
22 days would produce 20,900 sellable units (22 * 950), which exceeds the required 19,000, meaning the order would have been completed earlier.
