Why the answer is (a)

• Pair 1 is correct: Puthukkuli is the traditional handwoven shawl of the Toda tribe of the Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, with red and black embroidery on white cotton; it has GI status.

• Pair 2 is wrong: Sujni (sujani) is quilt embroidery of Bihar (Bhusura, Muzaffarpur), also with GI status; it is not from Maharashtra.

• Pair 3 is wrong: Uppada Jamdani saris come from Uppada in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, not Karnataka.

• Hence 1 only, option (a).

Why the other options are wrong

(b) 1 and 2
Pair 2 is wrong: Sujni is from Bihar.
(c) 3 only
Pair 3 is wrong: Uppada is in Andhra Pradesh.
(d) 2 and 3
Pairs 2 and 3 are both wrong.
