Why the answer is (a)

• On 8 August 1942 the All India Congress Committee, meeting at Gowalia Tank Maidan, Bombay, adopted the Quit India Resolution; Gandhi gave the 'Do or Die' call the same night — option (a).

• Congress ministries resigned in October–November 1939 over India being dragged into the War (c).

• The Cripps Mission's Dominion-status offer came in March–April 1942 and was rejected (d).

• The Viceroy's Executive Council was expanded with more Indians in July 1941 (b).

• Hence option (a).
