Why the answer is (a)
• Article 96 governs the Speaker's position when a resolution for his or her removal is under consideration.
• Statement 1 is correct: the Speaker shall not preside at the sitting, even if present; the Deputy Speaker or another member presides.
• Statement 2 is wrong: Article 96(2) expressly gives the Speaker the right to speak in and take part in the proceedings of the House on the resolution.
• Statement 3 is wrong: the Speaker is entitled to vote on the resolution in the first instance like any other member, but not in the case of an equality of votes (no casting vote).
• Hence 1 only, option (a).
