Why the answer is (c)

• The National Quantum Mission was approved in April 2023 with an outlay of about ₹6,000 crore for 2023–24 to 2030–31, implemented by the Department of Science and Technology.

• Statement 1 is correct: it aims to develop intermediate-scale quantum computers of 50–1000 physical qubits over eight years, using superconducting and photonic platforms.

• Statement 2 is correct: four Thematic Hubs have been set up — quantum computing (IISc Bengaluru), quantum communication (IIT Madras), quantum sensing and metrology (IIT Bombay) and quantum materials and devices (IIT Delhi).

• Other goals include satellite-based quantum communication over 2,000 km, inter-city quantum key distribution and magnetometers and atomic clocks.

• Hence both 1 and 2, option (c).
