Why the answer is (b)
• Q is neither doctor nor artist, so Q is the lawyer.
• P and S are unmarried students, so they are not the married man's wife and do not hold the three professional roles.
• T is married to a group member other than P and S; Q is P's brother (male), so T's wife must be R.
• The doctor is not Q (lawyer), not R (stated) and not P or S (students), so T is the doctor; the remaining role, artist, goes to R.
• So: T – doctor, Q – lawyer, R – artist and T's wife; P and S are students.
• Hence the lawyer is Q, option (b).
Why the other options are wrong

- P is an unmarried student and the profession of lawyer is assigned to Q based on the elimination of doctor and artist for Q.
- (c) R
- R is not a doctor, but the lawyer is specifically identified as Q because Q is neither a doctor nor an artist.
- (d) S
- S is an unmarried student and the lawyer is Q, who is neither a doctor nor an artist.
