- (a) 1 only
- (b) 1 and 2 ✓ UPSC's answer
- (c) 2 and 3
- (d) 3 only
Why the answer is (b)
• Madhav National Park lies in Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, on the edge of the Vindhyan hills; it was once the hunting preserve of the Gwalior Scindias.
• In March 2025 it was notified as India's 58th tiger reserve (Madhya Pradesh's ninth) after tigers were reintroduced there — statement 1 is correct.
• Sakhya Sagar, a lake within the park, was designated a Ramsar wetland of international importance in 2022 — statement 2 is correct.
• Statement 3 is wrong: the park lies wholly in Madhya Pradesh; it does not extend into Rajasthan.
• Hence 1 and 2, option (b).
Why the other options are wrong
- (a) 1 only
- Statement 2 is also correct: Sakhya Sagar Ramsar site lies inside the park.
- (c) 2 and 3
- Statement 3 is wrong: the park is entirely within Madhya Pradesh.
- (d) 3 only
